ProductsGasketsMaterialsTo ensure optimum applications compatibility, Flow Dry is readily equipped to help customers specify the appropriate material for nearly any gasket requirement. Our many years of experience with a variety of applications including automotive and diesel exhaust, refrigeration and a/c compressor and various industrial, provide for a strong technical base to assist with your most challenging sealing requirements. We maintain an extensive inventory of materials and work closely with key material suppliers to make available the latest sealing technology to our customers. Flow Dry’s Team is available to assist customers who aren't certain which material will provide them with the optimum solution for their application requirements. Readily available materials include the following:
High Temperature GasketsHigh temperature gaskets using material specifically designed for automotive, diesel and small engine exhaust applications are currently available in finished gauges of 0.042” (1.0mm), 0.060” (1.5mm) to 0.080” (2.0mm) with temperature ratings up to 1,000°C / 1,800°F. High temperature facing materials such as ceramic and vermiculite fibers are mechanically bonded to a electrolytic tin plated steel or stainless steel core, providing stability and integrity when exposed to high heat, scrubbing and vibration. Various facing materials are available including expanded graphite, to provide for the most economical composite to meet your application requirements. Kiss Cut / Peel-N Stick FoamA variety of cellular foams and adhesive combinations are available to be kiss cut on a roll to facilitate on line assembly and provide for cost savings over extruded materials. Ideally suited for applications where noise and vibration isolation are required in automotive A/C system and interior applications. Select-A-SealFlow Dry offers the latest in Sealing Technologies, including Select-A-Seal, a Rubber-Edged Composite Sealing Solution. Select-A-Seal® economically combines the compressibility of a composite base with a rubber sealing edge to represent a significant advancement in seal ability and robustness. This innovation is offered through our partnership with InterFace Solutions. To learn more about Select-A-Seal, click here. Flow Dry Expands Rapid Prototype CapabilityFlow Dry Technology, Inc. now has even greater RAPID PROTOTYPING capabilities for gaskets and diecut parts! In response to customer needs for quicker turn around times when developing and evaluating new designs, or changes to existing applications; Flow Dry has added the latest technology for cost effective, high speed, precision cutting of most non-metallic materials. With the addition of a Kongsberg precision gasket cutting machine, new samples or prototypes can be provided from your CAD files. This eliminates the need for temporary tooling or pre-production tooling. Send us your CAD file via e-mail for quicker turn around time. We can handle most any CAD format, including .DWG, .DXF, or .IGES. If we have material in stock, we can usually ship completed parts in 24 - 48 hours. If you do not have CAD file format and need more assistance with the design development for your application, our AutoCAD capability and the Artios CAD system make design development easy. From your faxed or mailed drawing, a design can be quickly created, modified, and redesigned (revisions are a snap). The Kongsberg gasket cutter can accurately cut most non-metallics such as: soft gasket materials, rubber, felts, nylon 6/6, open and closed cell foams, electrical - Kraft paper, fish paper, polyester films. With the ability to cut this broad range of materials, Flow Dry can easily help you develop applications such as: gaskets and other sealing, electrical insulators, shrouding, noise and vibration, and many other applications requiring a die cut part. The Kongsberg is significantly less expensive than alternative methods like water cutting, and creates no residue problems, as caused by water, laser, and abrasives. If you have an application that you would like to have us review, please call your customer service contact, talk to Angie Harmeson or Contact Us.
In-House ToolingAn in-house tooling department enables Flow Dry to shorten manufacturing lead times, enhance quality control and manage costs. All dies are manufactured to customer specifications using high-tech CNC equipment in accordance with stringent guidelines. Depending upon the application, Flow Dry can create steel rule dies, semi-permanent and full compound dies, as well as progressive dies. Depending upon the customer's requirements for dimensional part tolerances, production quantities and application material, Flow Dry can design, build and maintain tooling in-house. Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) ApplicationsA variety of isolation materials are available for vibration damping, acoustic noise reduction, and eliminating squeaks and rattles for automotive, appliance, or any application where noise or vibration is a customer concern. Materials can typically be die cut complete as individual pieces or kiss cut on rolls with pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA), or with some materials, kiss cut against a static release liner without PSA. UL rated materials are also available. Materials include the following: saturated felts with and without adhesives, various coated tapes, closed and open cell foams, materials with high energy absorption rates and excellent compression set resistance, plus many more. If customers need assistance developing a material for an application, Flow Dry can help.
Fuji Film AnalysisFlow Dry Technology has the ability to analyze customers' sealing applications using Fuji Prescale/Pressurex Films. They provide detailed analysis of the total force, average pressure, and total square inches of contact over a sealing/flange surface area, plus, a graphical display of pressure distribution. Contact Flow Dry to determine the proper film pressure range for any given sealing application. With a drawing of a flange surface or current gasket, Flow Dry can provide a pre-cut, prescale film that is ready to assemble in the joint (Flow Dry can assist with this process). Once the pressure has been applied to the joint assembly, with the gasket in place, the film is removed and can be read for immediate sealing pressure feedback, or Flow Dry can use it to supply a complete analysis of the sealing application. The analysis is generally available for a minimal cost; please contact Flow Dry for more information.
Engineering ServicesFlow Dry Technology employs the latest design and engineering technology to support customers' product requirements. Its capabilities include AutoCAD with Mechanical Desktop, plus electronic exchange of IGES, DXF and DWG files. Using its state-of-the-art Fuji Prescale/Pressurex Films, Flow Dry gathers detailed data of the total force, average pressure and total square inches of contact over a given sealing/flange surface area. This information compiled helps in selecting the proper gasket design and material of construction. Flow Dry Technology has the application expertise to help customers select the appropriate material for nearly any gasket requirement. It maintains an extensive inventory of various materials that is available for quick evaluation and prototyping.
Press CapabilitiesFor components with varying degrees of complexity and size, Flow Dry maintains a series of flat bed presses ranging in size from 10 to 300 tons. Bed dimensions up to 60" x 108" enable Flow Dry to accommodate oversized workpieces, while rotary presses handle high speed cutting and kiss cutting.
Value-Added ServicesIn order to better tailor its operations to customer demands, Flow Dry specializes in a series of auxiliary, value-added operations. In-house material slitting: Both acrylic and rubber-based pressure sensitive adhesives can be laminated to most non-metallic materials. Short-run production: Flow Dry handles pre-production or short-run quantities with temporary tooling, or depending on the material, no tooling (simply send a CAD file). Kiss cutting: For greater ease in handling most non-metallic materials, Flow Dry performs kiss cutting operations. Parts are kiss cut against a liner and wound on rolls for simplified dispensing on an assembly line. Other die cutting: Other services include in-line automated stacking, shrink wrap packaging, UV-curing, optically registered, silk screen printing and returnable packaging. |
