NewsFlow Dry Technology Activates Latest Laser and Optical Inspection EquipmentFlow-Dry has recently purchased and is using an innovative inspection system for meeting customer demands. The system has multi-sensor technology utilizing the latest in inspection hardware and software. With the capability to inspect parts from the ultra small (using up to 300X magnification) to the largest size (30" x 30"), Flow Dry can meet almost any inspection requirement. Employing an interactive software suite coupled to automatic, CNC, high accuracy, multi-sensor hardware, the system enables our quality technicians and engineering staff to easily capture data points directly from the part and provide seamless analysis. The hardware incorporates both video and laser sensors to capture both 2D edges and 3D surfaces on the part being inspected. The video image processing has programmable lighting sources from below and above the part. The laser can provide quick scanning of any part or surface to produce high-resolution 3D profiles, data points and geometric shapes such as planes and spheres. These sensors allow non-contact measurement in any situation. Flow Dry can now analyze the points or features and match them to the customer supplied CAD geometries. (If needed, a CAD file can be generated by Flow Dry Engineering.) The analysis utilizes fitting algorithms such as least squares, min-max or datum reference frame evaluations (ASME Y14.5 or ISO) and incorporates material condition. Integrated to this analysis is the ability to display both numeric and graphical results in color with custom designable report formats. Flow Dry and the customer can share the nominal, tolerance zone, raw data points, or geometric GDT results almost immediately after analysis. These results can be sent via email under various file formats such as PDF, HTML, or exported to Excel and common database files for SPC. The ability of this system to use multiple sensor technology enables Flow-Dry to employ the best sensor for the situation. With today's customer demands of producing increasingly complex parts, Flow-Dry Technologies can meet the challenge.
